A Small Update from Layer Audio Design

We have a few things we’d like to share with everyone.

COPULA is now live on our website and available for pre-order.

As previously announced, we'll be accepting pre-orders while production is underway.

Our Early Bird pricing will remain in effect until the end of this month. After that, COPULA will be available at its standard retail price.

Thank you again for all your support—we're looking forward to shipping the first units soon.

A Few Notes for GEN-300B Owners

First of all, we’d like to thank everyone who purchased our GEN-300B amps again. Your trust and support made this project possible.

There are a few things we’d like to share that may help you get the most out of your amplifier.

Give It Some Time

When your GEN-300B arrives, it has only accumulated a couple of hours of runtime during assembly and final testing. That means not only the tubes, but also the capacitors, transformers, sockets, wiring, and every other component are still essentially brand new.

By our standards, this is far from the amplifier’s final sonic performance.

Over the first 100 hours or more, you’ll notice the presentation gradually becoming fuller, smoother, and more cohesive. Resolution improves, textures become more natural, and the amplifier simply relaxes into itself.

Please be patient during this process -- the GEN-300B has a long way to go before it reaches its full potential.

Yes, It Runs Hot

Some of you may notice that the center power transformer becomes quite hot during operation.

This is completely expected.

We’ve performed extensive long-term testing, and under normal operating conditions this is not a reliability concern. But be sure to put it in a well ventilated area.

The reason is simple: the 300B output tubes operate at full Class A power at all times, and they’re positioned very close to the power transformer. A significant amount of heat is naturally radiated toward it.

The GEN-300B is intentionally designed in order to achieve the level of sonic performance we were aiming for.

CanJam SoCal

We’ll be exhibiting at CanJam SoCal later this month.

We’ll be exhibiting in Room 203 on the second floor, although the room assignment may change before the show.

If you’re attending the show, please stop by and say hello! We’d love to meet everyone in person, answer questions, and let you spend some time with the GEN-300B, COPULA and a few new products.

Shipping Plan Update

After returning from THE Show SoCal, we’ve now completed shipping all outstanding GEN-300B orders.

Because we’re attending another show in August, production time before the next shipment is extremely limited.

As previously mentioned, our next production run will consist of only 10 units, with 9 units still available for ordering, as one has already been reserved. These 10 units will be ready to ship in Oct.

After this batch, the following production run is expected to ship around December.

Our goal is to have those units completed ASAP, so everyone can have a new addition to their system just in time for the holidays.

As always, thank you for your patience, your trust, and your continued support.
